Research in Japan
At the Directory Database of Research and Development Activities, ReaD, public and private research institutions, individual researchers, and research subjects can be explored across all of Japan.
On 24th Nov. 2004, a search for researchers with the keyword "archaeology" resulted in a list of 685 names, and the keyword "archeology" gave a list of 115 names. This is good, but vastly underestimates the number of people involved in archaeology in Japan, since the data base does not cover city-level archaeological research centres.
