Jomon Japan cedar on Yakushima Island (Jomon Sugi)

Climbing guide for access to living cedar trees (sugi) dating back to the Jomon period. Most of the island is under forest, and a World Natural Heritage Area has been recognised here. See also here for further information.. Some of the Jomon archaeological research for this island is being carried out by staff at Okayama University.
