Furusato-mura pit dwelling

Hijiyama Shell-mound

Jomon shell-mound (and protected historical site) at southern foot of Hijiyama (Hiji hill) below Hijiyama Park in the western part of Hiroshima city. Access: Take streetcar for Ujina (via Hijiyamashita) from Hiroshima Station,10 minutes; alight at "Hijiyamashita," 10 minutes walk (see link for information source).

Miyoshi Fudoki Park

Thirty hectares with a History and Folklore Museum and numerous on-site reconstructions of ancient village houses. Displays from late-Pleistocene and Holocene periods onwards (Palaeolithic, Jomon, Yayoi, Kofun etc.). Can be reached by JR line. Tel. (0824) 66-2881 or -3534, Fax (0824) 66-3106.
