Osaka Museum of History
A large modern museum located immediately next to Osaka Castle, in what is better known locally as the NHK building. The Museum offers great landscape views from various windows in the exhibition floors. A very small display of Jomon materials in the permanent exhibition (2006), but temporary exhibitions such as the 'Recent Historical Discoveries in Osaka' may show Jomon materials from time to time. Access: the museum is easily reached by two different subway lines, and is close to the JR Osaka loop line.
Osaka Municipal Natural Historical Museum
The Osaka Municipal Natural Historical Museum is located in Nagai Park, near Osaka Bay and the centre of Osaka City, in Higashi-sumiyoshi-ku. Can be reached by train (subway Midosuji Line) to a station about 500m to the east of the museum.

Osaka Prefectural Museum of Yayoi Culture
A beautiful display of materials from the Ikegami Sone Site, spanning the Late Jomon - Early Yayoi transitional period. Access: Osaka 594-0083, 443 Ikegami-cho, Izumi City, Osaka. Tel. East Osaka Rural Museum
Higashi-Osaka Kyodo Hakubutsukan. Has a small collection of archaeological materials, spanning Jomon to Meiji eras. Access: 20 mins walk from Hyotan-yama Station (Bottlegourd Mountain Station) on the Kintetsu Nara Line. Tel. (0729) 84-6341, fax (0729) 86-1432.
Idemitsu Museum of Arts
Collection includes ceramics made from Jomon to Edo periods. Access: 13th Floor, Idemitsu Nagahori Bldg.,3-4-26 Minami-Senba,Chuo-ku,Osaka. Tel. 06-6245-8611

Kansai University Museum
Display includes palaeolithic to Jomon materials from diverse locations. Open to public (Monday to Friday excluding Wednesday). Access: 3-3-35, Yamatecho, Suita city, Osaka. Tel. 06-6368-1171. Fax 06-6388-9928 (see webiste for details).
Senboku Archaelogical Center
Japanese name: Senboku Koko Shiryokan, a public museum supported by Osaka Prefectural Government. No website known. Displays ancient ceramics from the region (presumably including those from Jomon period). Access: Oohasu Koen (Park), 2 Wakamatsudai, a short walk from Senboku Kosoku Tetsudo Izumigaoka St., Sakai City, Osaka 590-0116 (close to southern part of Osaka City proper). Tel. (0722) 91-0230.
